Collection of Data

The University requires that you provide information to be used by the University in the event of a threat to your personal safety. Such an event may be on campus or in the community. It is important that you provide accurate information and keep that information accurate.

Use of Data

The University will make efforts to contact you in the event of a threat to your personal safety. The information you provide on this form is critically important to that effort. Please take every care to insure that the information you provide is correct and useful for the purpose of notifying you in the event of an emergency.

You can update your emergency contact infomation at anytime. Sign on to MyUFL, Select My Account and then Select Update Emergecy Contacts. You will then have an opportuntity to update your emergency contact information.

Protection of Data

Some data elements collected for emergency notification purposes are protected from disclosure under the Sunshine Laws of the State of Florida. These data elements are indicated by a plus (+) on the form. Student data is always protected from disclosure by FERPA, the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act, also known as the Buckley amendment. Text Messaging Charges

In the event of a threat to your personal safety, the university will attempt to send a text message to your cell phone to notify you. Standard messaging rates will apply. The university will test its messaging capability several times each year. During these tests, the university may attempt to send you one or more text messages. Standard messaging rates will apply.
