Bridges Advisory #74 – August 26, 2005
The University of Florida is committed to keeping you informed as we continue our transition to the new myUFL systems. To help you with the transition, each week you will receive a Bridges Advisory.
SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF NEW TRAINING REGISTRATION SYSTEM. On Friday, myUFL introduced the first phase of a new training registration system for campus. Approximately 1300 individuals used the system between Friday morning and Wednesday to register for one or more of the 130 courses offered by HR’s Training and Organizational Development office for the fall semester. The goal is to eventually make this type of system functionality available for use by other UF training providers.
Anyone who registers for a workshop using the new system will receive a confirmation email that he or she has submitted a request if the employee’s information is correctly listed under the “My Account” information in the myUFL system. Later, he or she will receive a confirmation that he or she is enrolled in the course or has been placed on a waiting list. Three days prior to the class, enrolled participants will receive a reminder email. If you did not receive a confirmation email after submitting your request, check your email settings in the portal at “My Account.” Update your UF Business Email Address and/or correct the forwarding of your GatorLink email address. If you continue to have email problems, please contact your local network administrator.
Due to high demand for computer application courses, UF Training and Organizational Development limits employees to a maximum of two Computer Challenge courses during a semester (CCH course codes only). Computer courses include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. If you register for more than two computer classes, you will receive a cancellation notice and explanation email.
In the future, this new system will include Manager Self Service functionality and also may be expanded to include registration for other UF training providers. In the meantime, information about other training resources at UF may be found at http://www.dce.ufl.edu/oncampus.asp.
myUFL ENHANCEMENTS LAST WEEK. This past week, Bridges implemented more than 30 “fixes” or enhancements to the myUFL systems. The upgrade resolved several specific problems as well as improved general system performance. Some of the more noticeable changes include:
- Schedule of Courses Web site <www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc> was added to the Quick Links folder. This provides easy access for faculty and staff to access course schedules and information for recent or current semesters and future semester (when data become available). Click on Schedule of Courses in Quick Links, then Courses Offered, then search for the appropriate department at the top of the page. A list of courses will appear in course number order with the time, location, exam date, instructor, and more. The Web site is maintained by the Registrar’s office and updated daily on weekdays.
- A link to the Password Tips Web page has been added to the Change My Password application in myUFL for easier access to this useful information while you are creating a new password. A graphical display of the two most popular keyboard types have been added to indicate which special characters and punctuation are allowed or not allowed in a GatorLink password.
- Worklist users can now delete HR Notification Worklist items. To delete one from the worklist, click on the link, which opens the item, and then click on the “Mark Worked” button at the bottom. Within a few minutes, the item will disappear from the worklist. Please note that this applies only to Notification Worklist items, not to other worklist items such as position actions, job actions, or additional pay actions. If you cannot delete a recent Notification Worklist item, please contact the UF Help Desk (392-HELP) or helpdesk@ufl.edu.
DEPARTMENT SECURITY ADMINISTRATORS – LAST CHANCE FOR KEEPING THE ROLE. There will be one final class for Department Security Administrators who have not yet attended training. Access to the Access Request System (ARS) in myUFL will be removed on Thursday, September 1, 2005 for those who have not taken the mandatory class.
The session will be held in 282 Reitz Union on Tuesday, August 30 at 9:00 am – 11:00 am. If you use ARS have not yet attended, please plan to do so and register today for Bridges – DSA & Security Roles (Course Number BRG100) in myUFL portal > My Self Service > Training and Development.
The presentation and handout for this course is available on the Bridges Web site > Services > Security > Classes and Web Tutorials.
Bridges will offer the mandatory DSA course via the Web in the future. In the meantime, anyone who submits a DSA request form will be contacted to arrange a training session. No one is assigned the DSA role without having first taken the mandatory session.
