The University of Florida is committed to keeping you informed as we continue our transition to the new myUFL systems. To help you with the transition, each week you will receive a Bridges Advisory.

EARNING STATEMENTS PRINTED AND AVAILABLE FOR PICK-UP ON PAYDAY. Due to many faculty returning to campus from the summer break who are unfamiliar with the transition to the myUFL systems, the University will be printing earning statements for all its employees. Departmental staff can pick up the earning statements from the Payroll Office in Tigert beginning at 8:00 am, Friday, September 3. For future paydays, all faculty and staff with direct deposit will need to continue to print their own earning statements in the myUFL portal via My Self Service > Payroll and Compensation > View Paycheck.

We have received many suggestions from the campus community about making the self-service printed earning statements a one-page PDF document (or something similar). This is under consideration for future system enhancements. In the meantime, we offer the following suggestions for printing your earnings statement when using Internet Explorer:

INTRODUCING “TRAVEL EXCHANGE” -- A NEW DISCUSSION FORUM AND MORE. We now have a new method of communication for those using myUFL Travel and Expense. Available to all faculty and staff, “Travel Exchange” is located at the top of the myUFL Menu when you click on My Self Service > Travel and Expense. (You will need to scroll to the top of the myUFL Menu to see it.) The Exchange is currently made up of three components:

  1. Discussion forum where campus end users can share information and solve problems. Moderators from the UF Travel Office and the Bridges Travel team will post replies at times but this is a peer networking tool and we hope to see the campus community engaged in the process. Please read the welcome message in the Discussion Forum for more details about using this new tool.
  2. Information from the Bridges Web site that is reorganized for easy access to all materials related to Travel and Expense.
  3. Articles posted by the appropriate Bridges team or UF Travel Office. We anticipate that the topics covered would be similar to what one would typically receive in an end user listserv i.e., deadlines policy changes, etc.), as well as updates about the system itself.

NEW AND UPDATED TRAVEL AND EXPENSE TRAINING MATERIALS. In addition to the new Travel Exchange, we have updated the classroom presentation and handouts for “Get Up and Go: Travel and Expense in PeopleSoft.” If you took this certified class prior to August 2, we strongly encourage you to review the new presentation. The video of this class is no longer available as much has changed since the initial taping. We will re-tape the class and post the new video in early-to-mid September. The following Instruction Guides have been added or updated this week for Travel and Expense:

ENHANCEMENTS TO SYSTEM FOR TIME AND LABOR APPROVERS. Enhancements have been made to several Time and Labor pages in the myUFL portal that will improve the process of approving time.

PAYROLL COST TRANSFERS ISSUE RESOLVED SOON. Bridges is currently testing the payroll cost transfer process in our quality assurance environment. If testing is successful, we anticipate this issue being resolved next week. The goal is for this process to be running in time for Contracts & Grants to prepare the August invoices.

Departmental personnel can (and should) continue to change the distributions of their employees by using the UF Payroll Distribution Component found in Set Up HRMS > Product Related > Commitment Accounting > Budget Information USA. They will not, however, see the effect of those changes on their Payroll Cost Distribution Detail Reports. Once the retroactive distribution process is completed, the adjustments to the Payroll Distribution will be reflected on the Detail Reports.

CHECK ALERT NOTICES. Please remember to check for new Alert Notices before calling the Help Desk. When Bridges learns of a problem or issue that affects end users, an alert message is posted as soon as possible. Bridges also posts messages when maintenance needs to occur during business hours with any anticipated consequences identified. For easy access, the Alert Notices link is provided in the myUFL portal sign on box, in the myUFL Menu (under Help), and on the Bridges home page.
