The University of Florida is committed to keeping you informed as we continue our transition to the new myUFL systems. To help you with the transition, each week you will receive a Bridges Advisory.

Centralized contract with The Chronicle of Higher Education. On behalf of Kyle J. Cavanaugh, Vice President for Human Resource Services. “I am pleased to announce that the university has renegotiated a centralized contract for recruitment advertising with The Chronicle of Higher Education.” The newly established contract will provide up to a 20% discount for all print display ads and an unlimited amount of web–only ads. The new contract represents significant savings on both print and web ads.

For academic positions, departments will continue to work directly with The Chronicle when placing their ads. Departments simply need to identify themselves as being part of the University of Florida to take advantage of the savings.

For staff positions, Recruitment and Staffing will continue to draft the advertisements, obtain quotes, and place the advertisements on the departments’ behalf. When placing either a print or electronic advertisement, departments should include the following equal employment opportunity statement:

“The University of Florida is an equal employment opportunity employer.”

Please refer to the "Outside Advertising" section of our web site, http://www.hr.ufl.edu/managers/advertising.htm for a list of key information that should be included in advertisements. If you have any questions about the new contract or advertisement placement please contact Donna Burdge, Associate Director for Recruitment and Staffing, at 392–4621.

Annual Certification Requirement for Security Roles. During the weekend of May 13 and 14, Bridges implemented a new certification requirement in the Access Request System (ARS) similar to what UF had in the pre–PeopleSoft security application maintained by Information Systems. This enhancement brings us into compliance with UF’s IT Data Security Standard policy which states that the university must perform a periodic review of each individual’s security for accuracy and segregation of duties. Department Security Administrators (DSA) are now required to certify a user’s roles each time they make a role request (e.g., add, delete, update) in ARS for that person. Soon, DSAs will receive an email notification letting them know when a user has not been certified within the specified period (one year for employees; six months for non–UF employees).

Discontinued ViewDirect Reports. University of Florida staff who sign–on to CNS’s UF Menu System (aka the “Dean’s Network”) and use ViewDirect (formerly known as Infopac) to look at reports generated from legacy mainframe systems will notice their ViewDirect menus shrinking as we remove reports that have not been produced in more than two years. This does not include current reports. Please contact Merry Hess from Bridge’s Production Support Services at 273–1387 if you have any questions regarding this announcement.
